FINAL EXAM DATES

Final exams for high school students will be on Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29. As a reminder, any vacations requested during these days will not be approved due to falling within the last five days of the grading period.

CAMP & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

See the link below for any summer camp & summer volunteer opportunities that have been sent to the guidance department - this is not an exhaustive list of everything available this year, but some ideas for students who are interested. Whenever new opportunities arise, they will be added to this page: Summer Camp & Volunteer Opportunities

26-27 SCHEDULES

Schedules for the 2026-27 school year have been distributed to all 9th through 11th grade students.  Please watch this video of how and why classes were chosen for students.  As a reminder, all schedule changes must be submitted by the last day of school, 5/29/26.  There will be no schedule changes permitted past that date.  Please let Ms. Staggs know if you have any questions.

QUICK TIPS FOR TEENS

As we work together to help students finish the school year strong, one helpful habit to encourage at home is a “Caffeine Curfew” around noon or 2:00 PM. While drinks like coffee, energy drinks, soda, and some teas may provide a temporary boost, caffeine can stay in the body for many hours. In fact, caffeine has about a 6-hour half-life, meaning a late afternoon drink can still affect the brain at bedtime. Limiting caffeine later in the day can help students fall asleep more easily, improve the quality of their sleep, and support better focus, mood, and energy during the school day.

Green Local Schools would like to remind our families about local resources available to support those in need within our district and community.  Faithful Hearts Food Services, a longtime community partner serving Smithville families, continues to offer grocery assistance, hygiene items, and food support through their food shed and Grocery-To-Go program. Families can see the attached flyer for additional information about available services and pickup details.  We also want to share another summer resource available to families through Operation Home Plate, which offers weekly backpack food support for children throughout the summer months. Please see the attached flyer for registration and program information.

We are grateful for the organizations and community members who continue working together to support families in the Green Local community.
