QUICK TIPS FOR TEENS
Good communication is one of the most important skills our students can develop. Whether they are talking with a teacher, friend, parent, coach, or future employer, how they communicate matters. Here are some tips:
Don’t just wait for your turn to talk. Make an effort to understand what the other person is saying.
Put the phone down, make eye contact, and give the person your attention. Being present communicates respect.
If something is serious, emotional, or could easily be misunderstood, have the conversation in person whenever possible.
There is strength in saying, “I don't understand. Can you explain that?” Good communicators aren't afraid to ask for help.
